Fife Burmilla Proposals

  • Proposals
  • Proposal 1
  • Proposal 2

Over the years the Burmilla Breed Council achieved some important changes.
The code 31 added as colour for the Burmilla
Recognition of the Golden Burmilla.

Proposal to amend the Burmilla standard and, as a consequence, add a new paragraph to the Breeding and Registration Rules,

a) Amendment to the standard under Group 1: EMS-Code

BML n/a/b/c/o/p s 11/12
BML n/a/b/c/o/p s 11/12 31

b) Amendment to the standard Group II: EMS-Code

BML d/e/g/h/j/q/r s 11/12
BML d/e/f/g/h/j/q/r s II/ 12 31

c) Addition to the Breeding and Registration Rules Article 2.6 2.6.17 - BML (Burmilla).

When registering Burmillas, code 31 shall be used to identify Burmese colour restriction where this is known/applicable. It shall be used for all colour varieties, and together with the proper colour and shaded or shell code.

Motivation

The Burmillas were recognized in 1994 at which time it was accepted and noted in the standard that some cats would exhibit the Burmese expression (cbcb). The appropriate code to describe this was, however, omitted from the EMS codes in the standard.  The amendment in point a &b is to rectify this omission.

For the sake of clarity it is necessary to add a new paragraph to the Breeding and Registration Rules to cover the registration of cats exhibiting the cbcb gene.

At present, neither the registration document nor the judge's report form indicate the correct colour of the cat in question. It is important for a breeder to know the correct colour of the cats on a pedigree and it is equally important for a judge to know the colour of the exhibit.

This proposal does not change the judging practice of dividing the Burmilla into two groups.

Proposal 2 of CSCH-SCHK (CZ) – Application to accept Golden (y) in the BML

With reference to articles 10.2 and 10.3 of the FIFe Breeding & Registration Rules, we apply for the acceptance of golden as a fully recognised variety of the BML, in all existing varieties to be included in the General Part, BML standard and EMS list. We suggest creating 2 new groups: Group 3 – Non-Orange Golden and Group 4 – Orange Golden

To this end, the following changes & additions must be made to the BM standard, pgs 25 & 27:
Page 25 of the BML Standard – coat colour:
Ground colour: pure silver-white, or warm golden, shaded and shell in the recognised orange and non-orange colour varieties. For colour varieties, refer to the table below.
Page 27 of the BML Standard - Recognised  colour varieties
All recognised BML are silver or golden shaded or shell
GROUP I: NON-ORANGE SILVER (rest remains unchanged)
GROUP II: ORANGE SILVER (rest remains unchanged)
GROUP III: NON-ORANGE GOLDEN (rest remains unchanged)
Black/Blue/Choc./Lilac/Cinnamon/Fawn golden shaded/shell    BML n/a/b/c/o/p  y  11/12
Black/Blue/Choc./Lilac/Cinnamon/Fawn golden shaded/shell    Burmese Pointed   BML n/a/b/c/o/p  y  11/12 31
Group IV: ORANGE GOLDEN
Red/Cream/Tortie  golden shaded/shell    BML d/e/f/g/h/j/q/r  y  11/12
Red/Cream/Tortie  golden shaded/shell    Burmese pointed   BML d/e/f/g/h/j/q/r  y  11/12 31

It was decided to split the voting in two parts. The first voting on the addition of the new groups (3 & 4) if this would not pass to vote on incorporation of the golden in the existing two groups.
